Management of wastewater treatment plants was and still is one of our basic activities; until today we have managed more than 250 different types of wastewater treatment plants for public as well as for private companies. Regular management and maintenance of wastewater treatment plants are essential for ensuring purification efficiency, long service life of the equipment and resources and energy savings that are required for their function. A treatment plant is a “machine” that works 24/7, so it has to be managed carefully and with experience. The device requires frequent maintenance and the operator must know all details, so he/she can react swiftly to problems and resolve them.
Biological treatment plants, for example, use a purification capacity of bacterial colonies, living organisms that are sensitive to external conditions and harmful substances: advanced instruments enable the operator to prevent, establish and resolve eventual biological interferences. Same goes for chemical-physical processing, where special sensitivity is required for acquiring best results with a minimal use of reagents.
The operator must possess expertise and experience in the field of hydraulics, machinery, electrotechnics, electronics, chemistry, biology and complex legislation in the field of purification. Due to a large number of treatment plants we manage continuously and large amount of technical/process data we collect daily, we introduced a computer archiving and managing system for this kind of data on treatment plants (size and type of processes, equipment characteristics, etc.) which provides a full support to the operator and enables a suitable activity planning.
If possible, we use remote control systems so we can intervene in the shortest time possible. Such systems enable limiting and immediate elimination of eventual critical situations, additionally improve supervision and management processes because they detect main process parameters (dissolved oxygen, flow, pH, opacity, etc.) and the functional state of the whole equipment; some systems also enable a change of operational parameter settings for automatic operation (operating time, set values, reset of alarms, etc.).
